Hi Guys, long time since I've posted a query but I can't find anything about
this in the archives, so here goes......

I want to do some arty-fart pics with my 550EX, in particular strobe-y kinda
stuff.

The manual left me totally lost with regard to exposure, as not only do I
have the strobe to concentrate on but also a lit building for which the
ambient exposure must balance. Add to that the main subject, racing cars
doing about 70+mph, and my recipe for disaster is complete.

The track doubles back on itself in front of me nearest point 30 yds) with
this wonderfully night-lit building in the background (150yds), and I want
to expose for this on ambient, and throw in enough flash to illuminate a car
negotiating the track. The car will be in the shot for about 6 seconds or so
in which time I'd like to record a number of different ghosted images at
about 1/3 full eposure for the nearest one, obviously dropping off as the
car is further from me.

That's what I'm visualising. I appreciate that chances are I'm asking too
much, but if anyone can help me with this or suggest other flash techniques
for motor racing at night, I would be interested to hear.

Many TIA

Tom.
