> What makes ppl to buy EOS equipment?
Good question! About 5 years ago, after using only point and shoot cameras,
I decided I wanted an SLR. I saw an ad in the newspaper for a Minolta kit on
sale, and told my husband that's what I wanted for Christmas. I did no
research and was clueless about the camera; I just figured it had to be
better than a P&S. Well, instead of shopping at the discount store where the
Minolta was on sale, he went to a camera shop where the salesman talked him
into a Rebel G with 2 Tamron zoom lenses. I did things rather backward: got
the gear first, then started researching :) Once I did, I was very happy
with the Canon and very glad he didn't go with the Minolta. I've since
upgraded to the Elan 7e with a nice collection of USM lenses :)
In my original situation, the type of advertising that would have appealed
to me probably would have emphasized ease of use, depicting a mother
shooting good quality photos of the kids rather than a professional
photographer in some exotic location, which is what most ads seems to show.
