'Plastic' is sometimes misconstrued as being flimsy. The mount on the 50
f1.8 is manufactured from a polycarbonate material. I do not know the
mechanics of the material, but I'd bet it would be as strong as a metal
mount for the lifespan of the lens. Do not be put-off by the 'plastic'
mount, at the price you will have a very good lens.
