Weird, my 75-300 Mk I is darned sharp at the long end. Hell, even with a
cheap 2X on it at 600mm. Don't believe it? Check out a handheld shot
wideopen at 600mm I took with it and the Kenko MC7 2X.
It's under photo tests/2X extender test.
Notice the photo of the Boxer. By the way, I usually use this lens wide
open, and usually hand hold. Enjoy your L lens. As well, lens is usually
clean, and has no filters on it. Sometimes I use a hood too.
