...and how could we have a discussion of L lenses without, like we do
every time, segueing into stories of how we "justified" or minimized or
hid  this purchase from our spouses!

When I got my first L, a used 70-200 2.8, it took me three days to
muster up the courage to tell her just how much "we" had paid for it.
Sensing her shock, I quickly went on to explain how it would take even
BETTER pictures of the kids and she was happy...
