I know what you mean! I bought my first L (an 80-200/2.8L) for the exact
same reason! L lenses can be very addictive. After that one, I bought a
28-70/2.8L and when I can afford one, I intend to buy a 17-35/2.8L. I
bought them second hand, which in L lenses means saving a lot.
I just can't get tired of the high-quality of those lenses + the larger
aperture. Only downside: the extra weight, but I can live with that.
