Rich, If you can justify trading your 70-200 f/2.8 for the new IS version, I think it would be the perfect lens for you. That lens has the new 3-stop improvement. No matter how good you are and how high your percentage of keepers, you will improve with the new IS version. You could shoot at 1/125 sec. and have the stability of 1/1,000 sec. You would also have the option of choosing a slow shutter speed using IS mode-2 and panning. Also, you can leave the lens set to Mode-2 all the time and the camera senses whether you're panning or not and automatically chooses the correct mode. Based on previous discussions on using IS lenses from airplanes, Image Stabilization really helps a lot.
