Ken,

Canon's lens brochure says the EF25 can NOT be used with the following; any
lens below 20mm focal length (ie 14mm, 15mm fisheye, 20mm), the 24/1.4,
50/1.0, 45/2.8 TS-E, and the 17-35mm and 20-35/3.5-4.5 at the shorter focal
lengths. 

Your lenses should be OK with it, so either it needs a clean or yes, you
have a lemon.
