Ken,
Try seeing if the contacts are clean. You can use a Q-tip with alcohol and
wipe them clean. Also try a good soft eraser and gently rub the contacts
clean. They are gold plated which resists the oxidation (unlike copper which
is a better electrical conductor but oxidizes quickly).
