Hi Hans,

I have the EOS3 and the shutter noise has never bothered me; in fact I've found
it reassuring! I don't take photos in quiet places so the noise isn't normally
an issue for me. I do remember that the EOS100 was hailed as a very quiet
camera when it was introduced, and shortly after I bought the EOS50E which was
supposed to use some of the same "quiet" technology. This I found less than
satisfactory as I never felt the camera was operating with precision - and when
it started to prematurely rewind films, I was convinced.
The EOS3 is a great camera - used with or without the ECF feature. With the
PB-E2 installed, you've got more control of wind-on speeds (single, 3fps, up to
6 or 7fps depending on battery types and mode). Without the PB-E2, you're
limited to single and 4-5fps which is a bit fast for many situations.
Hope this helps
