Actually, a doubling of perceived sound level is 10db,
not 3.

Good advice.  I currently have both the 1v and 3, and
while the 1v isn't much quieter, the quality of sound
is different, and I think it is less obtrusive.  But
not by a lot.  No EOS (and no other SLR) is a quiet as
your 100.  The EOS 5 comes close, as does the EOS
30/33.  My suggestion would be to buy the EOS 3 if it
really does things you need, and keep the 100 for
those times you really need a quiet camera.
