I currently have both the 1v and 3, and while the 1v isn't much quieter, the quality of sound is different, and I think it is less obtrusive. But not by a lot. No EOS (and no other SLR) is a quiet as your 100. The EOS 5 comes close, as does the EOS 30/33.
