Hans, Your comparing one of the more silent EOS cameras ever made with a semi-pro/pro camera. No way an EOS 3 or a 1V is going to be as silent as an EOS 100. If silence is important to you, buy an EOS 30. It is the only camera, I believe, that is a match for an EOS 100 in terms of silence. All pro cameras are noisy. I upgraded from an EOS 5 to a 3 and at first it seemed that the 3 was way too noisy. Then you get used to it. I've heard say that the PB-E2 somehow muffles the shutter noise a bit, but I can't say for sure, since I don't own a PB-E2. If silence is important for you, my advice is: buy the EOS 3 and keep the EOS 100 for those occasions when you need silence. Another solution would be buying a Leica M7 :-) Hope it helps.
