Hi all,
My Tokina ATZ Pro 28-70 2.8 has literally just fallen apart. I had
already decided to replace it with the new Canon 24-70, but I spoke to a
Canon rep yesterday who told me that delivery of this lens to the UK has
been put back to early 2003!
My dilemma is that I need a lens to fit the gap between my 17-35 &
70-200 L lenses until I can get my hands on the new baby. For obvious
reasons I don't want to spend too much, as it's only a stop gap. I'm veering
towards either the 28-105 NON USM or the 50mm 1.8. I'm not expecting them
to match the L lens' sharpness, but would appreciate any comments or
suggestions from owners of these lenses.
    Cheers,
James
Hi James,

I didn't know there is a non USM 28-105, is it a third party lens?
Anyway, if you get the 50/1.8, it will probably not match the L lens
sharpness, but likely exceed it :-) Stopped down to f/2.8 it is plenty
sharp already.
