First, if you require Canon try out the 28-135mm IS lens. Yes, its not a F2.8 but if you don't normally use your lenses wide open its a terrific lens. If you need something at F2.8 then I would buy the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX Aspherical DG DF. Very reasonably priced and from what people who have used it tell me, first rate in terms of optics.
