Buy a used lens, either the 28-105 USM or 28-135 IS. Use it for a few
months, you should be able then to resell it for essentially what you paid
for it, it's not likely it would depreciate much in a few months time.

Subject: EOS Dilemma
Hi all,
My Tokina ATZ Pro 28-70 Y2.8 has literally just fallen apart. I had
already decided to replace it with the new Canon 24-70, but I spoke to a
Canon rep yesterday who told me that delivery of this lens to the UK has
been put back to early 2003!
My dilemma is that I need a lens to fit the gap between my 17-35 &
70-200 L lenses until I can get my hands on the new baby. For obvious
reasons I don't want to spend too much, as it's only a stop gap. I'm veering
towards either the 28-105 NON USM or the 50mm Y 1.8. I'm not expecting them
to match the L lens' sharpness, but would appreciate any comments or
suggestions from owners of these lenses.
Cheers,
James
