I would be extremly surprised if you can buy a full-frame Canon SLR within
the next 18 months for less then $1k, even a used one. The most expensive
single part of a digital camera is the sensor. Also the price of the sensor
does not increase linear to its size. Therefore, even if Canon produces a
lower-end body with a full frame sensor it is still going to be expensive.
Also if the 1Ds will get replaced by a newer model it's very unlikely that
the price of and old used 1Ds will fall bellow $1k within the next 18 monts.
Just my opinion.
