In my test, I tried moving the focus to the closest setting, then letting
the autofocus take over, then setting it to infinity and letting the
autofocus work.  I did this several times for different focus points (all
the horizontal ones).  Results were consistent.  I think you're right and I
should it back with a longer letter, a CD, and some printed results.  I've
just been reluctant to send it back in as I'm on the road a lot (220 plus
days last year) and that makes it more difficult to "raise hell".
