Sure David, will do. The batteries are charging as we speak. I've
mounted the BG-ED battery pack on it because I'm planning on doing some
COLD weather shooting in Nunavut shortly.

This will be quite a paradigm shift for me. I'm 55 y.o. and my *regular*
camera (before the 10D) are a pair of Nikons - an F3HP and FE2 - 80's
era, film, AND manual focus. I love'm - have done me well.

For instance, I shot a bunch of film in Rankin Inlet last January. I
walked around carrying the F3 + MD4 for two hours in -45C temps, with
winds up to 50 km/h (I can't even guess the wind-chill, somewhere
around -60C). I had a 35-70mm zoom on it, and after about an hour, could
no longer work the zoom - too stiff. The focus still worked and the
camera operated flawlessly all that time. The only problem I had was
breathing on the viewfinder...took about 5 min. for the 'fog to
clear! Before I went back inside, I put the whole thing (motor drive too)
into a plastic bag to reduce condensation.

I am definitely curious as to how the 10D will perform under similar
circumstances! It's a big jump for me - M.F. film to AF digital, Nikon
to Canon...should be interesting! My wife has an Elan 7 with some
lenses: 28-105mm, 28-135 IS (just purchased), 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.8
(no, not Jim's...), and a 75-300mm. I'll pay around with the 10D and
some of her lenses, but I'm sure that I'll be looking at some L glass
soon.

Coming from Nikon's 85mm f/1.4, 180mm *ED, etc., does anyone have any
suggestions?

Thanks, and keep you posted.

Ron (not used to waiting 3+ hours to recharge)
