Hello

In my opinion you should
1. Forget about number 2. You can have a nice dinner for 74 but not a
nice lens
2. Buy the f/1.4. I have it and it really is a superb lens. At least in
a film camera
3. Start saving like me for a 100 f/2.8 macro ;)

Have a nice day

Patricio

1.) Normal EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Autofocus Lens $ 309.00

2.) Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II Autofocus Lens $ 74.00

3.) Normal EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Autofocus Lens $ 239.95

All three (like any modern 50) are very good - any differences in
optical quality will be minor, and meaningless when shooting handheld.
What is more important are your priorities and intended uses. If cost
is paramount, get the 1.8. If you want better build quality and better
AF, get the 1.4. If you plan on taking a lot of close ups, obviously you
should get the macro.
