Hello In my opinion you should 1. Forget about number 2. You can have a nice dinner for 74 but not a nice lens 2. Buy the f/1.4. I have it and it really is a superb lens. At least in a film camera 3. Start saving like me for a 100 f/2.8 macro ;)

What is more important are your priorities and intended uses. If cost is paramount, get the 1.8. If you want better build quality and better AF, get the 1.4.
