Pardon me for saying this, but maybe the real message
is getting lost here: I see nothing wrong with my
50/1.8 II (yeah the plastic one, but does have GLASS
optics in it, not plastic). For a mere cost of going
out to the movies 2-3 times, I have a wonderful
performer that does not cost the earth and moon. 

But then again what do I know - a frail voice lost
amongst a multitude of heavily experienced ones ?
