EOSites -
I have a chance to get an EOS-1N - with some trade-in - for around $300. I've been shooting with an Elan 7 along side my FD gear since the Elan 7 came out. Now I know the EOS-1N offers spot metering, changeable screens and sturdier build - any other changes I should be aware of? The Elan's metering system is actually newer and works very well - I don't imagine the 1N is any slouch though 6 years older.
I guess I'm trying to get a handle on how much of an upgrade it will be. Biggest use will be for wildlife and bird photography - any comments on how either of these cameras will focus with the 400/5.6L? I haven't got one yet - I've been doing all my long lens work with FD lenses, but really want AF now. I could just put the $$ into the lens, so I'm debating if the 1N will really be - in practical terms - a siginificant improvement over the Elan 7. Thanks.
FWIW, I'm also contemplating getting a DSLR in the next few months. Probably a 20D or its replacement if anything is announced at PMA. The 5D is really out of my reach right now, although I'm tempted to penny-pinch and go that route. I do intend to continue shooting film, hence the 1N, since I love slides, but need to move to all AF.
