I tend to think that the advantages of fast glass are diminished in wider-angle applications. To me, they are not worth the added expense and size. I like faster lenses in the longer lengths where I will be blurring backgrounds. David * **** ******* Actually in my application (wedding photography) I find that my 24-105 f4 L IS is not fast enough in the sense that it doesn't blur the backgrounds as nicely as my 85 1.8 or 70-200f2.8 L IS. So for that reason I would have liked the 24-70 f2.8 L ... But I do like the IS of my 24-105 and I permanenly leave this lense on my 5D. I then just switch between the 85 and 70-200 on my 1D MkII and I never have dust probs in my 5D. If you need to focus closer then get a set of diopters... I got some no name ones which I stick on my 85 1.8 for macros of rings etc... And they're fantastic. So I'd prefer the 2.8 in the wide angles... But I do like the 24-105 range... So it's a compromise I live with. NOTICE This e-mail and any attachments are confidential and may contain copyright material of Macquarie Bank or third parties.
