I believe color cast is a big factor, and the thing I noticed most. They are
both very sharp. If I was going back to the 1.8, I'd want one of the first
versions, not so much for the metal lens mount or distance scale but the
focusing ring on the Mk II is awkward for me. And IIRC, the hood on the
newer on uses some adapter gizmo that will drive you crazy. I struggled with
one of those hoods on my Mk 1 until Julian pointed out I had the wrong hood.
