For quite a few of the messages lately I've seen responses before the original thread...
I had an S500 for years and just recently upgraded to the SD700 IS and love it. The screen is almost quadruple the size which is awesome. But, as I've found out, more LCD means more chances to scratch. I've had my S500 for probably 2-3 years and never got a scratch on the LCD. I've had the SD700 for maybe 3 weeks and have already got a scratch. So I went out and bought a package of those mylar screen protectors for $5. Whish I would've thought of it BEFORE the first scratch. Even though not much smaller on paper it is perceivably much smaller because of all the beveled edges. And, much like the progression of sensors in the EOS SLR digital line, the SD700 at 400 has just a little more noise than my S500 at 200. So I can go to 800 with the SD700 and it's like shooting at 400 on the S500. The startup time is roughly a second from pushing the button to lens extension and being ready to shoot. That's about half of my S500. The only other cameras I thought about where the A700 (with it's 6x zoom) and the S2 IS (which really isn't in the same class as all the other "little" P&S cameras). I just wish they'd make a P&S with a 16mm wide end... :( Mike * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
