I've never seen the original message in this thread, but I have an
opinion.

My first digital camera was a Nikon 950. That was followed by a Nikon
995, then a 300D, 20D, 5D and lastly a Powershot 300SD.

I've liked my SLRs a lot, but I'm never going to touch another Canon
point and shoot again. I think a constipated aardvark would be just as
effective at being a digital camera as a Canon point and shoot. Mine
broke, and I'm not even sure how, since I only took about four dozen
pictures with it before I became so frustrated with it that I stopped
using it.
Hmmmmmm.

I have an old Powershot A40 that has bounced around in my car since I bought it, the car, in 2003. Whenever I want to use it I sometimes have to either charge the AA cells in it or put some new ones in. Oh yeah, and its been dropped at least twice.

The son of a friend of mine has been carrying a Powershot A80 around in his construction truck to take photos of his work for the past year and a half. His experience equals mine.
