Personally I would. I do own one L lens, a 100-400L IS and I wouldn't take it on
a vacation unless I was going for the reason to shoot something rather than a
normal vacation. If I had a shorter L lens I'd leave it at home too.

The reasons for owning an L lens are for the excellent results shooting with it.
I don't consider vacation shots in that category and I'm not a postcard shooter.
I like to travel light and enjoy a carefree vacation without worrying about a
$1500 lens in the hotel room or in my camera bag.

I know there are some on this list who would scoff, but I think the 28-135 can
produce a professional result, so that is why I'd take it on vacation. Your
vacation may vary.

The fact is I'd rather have something wider but such is life and money and small
sensors. I could afford a nice wide angle but then not likely a vacation ;-)

I have tried to take more serious photos when on vacation and dragged along a
heavy bag full of expensive lenses. I won't make that mistake again unless the
purpose of the vacation is to get photos of course. But then it wouldn't be a
vacation then, would it?
