Not to beat a dead horse. I had a bunch of gear stolen over the holidays, including my "Mk.I" EF 50/1.8. I'm awaiting the check from my insurance, and contemplating some replacements. It would appear the qualities of this earlier lens have been discovered, and although I see some going for as low as $150 (I paid $60 for mine) many of them are approaching the cost of the f/1.4 version. Now I could use the extra half-stop, but among FD lore it is generally considered that the FD f/1.8 is actually a better lens - or at least sharper - than the f/1.4. Is this true of the EF versions? It seems I've heard something to that effect, but what are people's experience with these two lenses? I'm assuming the two versions of the 1.8 are optically identical.

Thanks

Ken
