Up here in Alberta Western Canada, we don't have any sales taxes thank God. However those greedy bastards in Ottawa sure do, they are the Masters of RIPOFF. Their Tax Grabs and User Fees plus many other forms of theft that they try hard to hide have produced a Government Culture very similar to Chicago in the thirties, and run by a whole bunch of Al Capones in the various Departments.

I believe that all other Canadian Provinces have Sales Taxes destroying progress. Quebec is exceptional in another way as they consider themselves a separate country. I had lived there 49 years. Despite all the Canadian money and perks dumped into Quebec to try to appease them, they are still a "have Not" Province {State} that constantly cries for more and more. It's a well known WELFARE State.
Taxes gone wild never help a country, they destroy every country infected with the desease.

Most states only charge you if you have NOT previously paid tax on it. Or if the tax paid elsewhere is lower than the state that it's being brought in to.
For example if I bring in an item that was taxed at 7 % into a state where the sales/use tax is 9% then I'd pay the 2% based on fair market value.
Again that doesn't cover ALL states.
