IMHO each of us should support groups like EOC, AOPA, EAA which are our voice to the FAA and other government bureaucracies.

AOPA has submitted a petition to the FAA for a change in Recreational and Sport Pilot medical requirements. Worth reading:

I am grounded, pending procurement and installation of a new impulse coupling, magneto gear, spark plug fairings, and of pulling out a cylinder to get a spark plug heli coil fixed.
The possibility that I will be driving, instead of flying, to Terrell is growing by the minute....

My Ercoupe arrived Friday from Fresno, Ca., ferried in by Carl (a pilot
looking to ferry others) in good shape. I get my first lesson in it on
Tuesday. I hope to solo by the end of summer so that I can prefect my skills
every spare minute! I'm based at EKA until my EAA Chapter builds our air and
space museum, then the coupe will have a place there on display.
My instructor has been making noises about needing to train in a plane with
rudders, as well as the coupe. I'm going for my sport pilot certificate and
think I'm going to be flying my coupe, not other planes. I want to get
really proficient in it and am afraid that if I go back and forth it will
confuse me. Ideas/

Linda,
Here are some thoughts, for what they're worth.
If you take your check ride in a 2-control Coupe, your license will limit
you to 2-control only.
I think it's wise to train in all the maneuvers (except slip) to the point
where you would be ready to take the check ride. Then, if a Light Sport
Aircraft is available, take your last few hours in it to master everything
using the rudder pedals and take your check ride in the 3-control aircraft.
Yes, it'll cost you some extra but you'll have an unrestricted license.
It is OK to take your Sport license check ride in your Coupe and stay with
2-control while you build time and have fun. Maybe you'll never fly
anything else.
Let's get the info from our CFI members of the list. If she wants to
upgrade to 3-control, does she have to take another full DPE check ride or
is it easier than that to remove the restriction?

Ed
My Sport Pilot license does not have any 2 control restriction, even when I took the checkride in my 2 control Ercoupe.
I am not sure why

Eliacim,
That's way cool. I suspect the DPE either slipped or thought you would do
OK.
Either way, you win.

I cant believe anyone is doing this SB. I personaly know how long it takes to remove and reinstall the intieror and wings. If we have all comlpied with the AD by the wing removal method, then that should be enough. I found corrosion in my center section because of the AD. I replaces the center section, and all 230 rivets. Why should I have to pay $500+ if this becomes an AD? I think you can see everything you need to based on the previous AD. Also we all have to remember that this coupe was being looped. Coupes were not intented to be looped.
