Yo, Bob

The Weight and Balance form at the end of Ercoupe Service Memorandum #23
shows the fuselage tank fuel as weighing 30 lbs (5 gal. at six lbs./gal.)
at
an arm of 7 for a horizontal moment of 210. Fuel in each wing tank is
individually shown as weighing 54 lbs at an arm of 25 for a horizontal
moment of 1350.

This memorandum came out while production coupes had ternplate tanks, but
ERCO was calculating 9 gal. capacity wing tanks. I believe your nose tank
is six gallons for 36 lbs and a horizontal moment of 252. In both forward
and rearward C. G. calculations your header tank should be full and ERCO
used a minimum wing tank fuel weight of 42 lbs. Later on, they used a
combined minimum fuel of 12 gallons for such calculations.

Any aircraft's weight and balance changes as fuel is burned. I agree you
can't accurately calculate the minimum fuel C. G. lumping all together.

Regards,

WRB
