I only have the engine mounted filter. I rarely see 180, only the summer months (Chicago).

If the cooler has water in it and it freezes (in the winter) you may loose your oil when one of the tubes breaks. This just happened to a guy on another email list I am one. Fortunately he was on the ground and saw the oil pressure at zero before taking ot the skies.

180 is ideal to boil off the condensation. 120 is too low. So is 150 but it is closer. Is anyone else using a cooler?

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Oil temp.

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

I just installed an Air wolf oil filter on my Coupe the filter mounts on the firewall. (Not hard to install) The reason I did not go with the engine mounted one is that I have an oil cooler installed on that pad and I did not want to remove it. I now have added an extra quart of oil and the filter housing is on the right side of the firewall partly in the exiting air stream of the cowling. My question is what is minimum oil temperature? Normally after flying a while my temp would go to just under 150 degrees, now the temp barely gets over 120 degrees. (approximately)

Any advice would help, Thanks.
