"Eighty more pounds in the gross weight limit would allow many more aircraft to be LSA qualified," Surely a good statement but the wrong way for the Ercoupe. There is also the stall speed factor to consider. At 1400 pounds gross the coupe stalls at a too fast speed. But with 1320 pounds our Coupes would fit perfectly the stall numbers I calculated. The FAA should allow for recertification of the aircraft. In the case of the Coupes, there needs be some flight testing done that tests the plane with a gross weight of 1320 and do some stall measurements. But this won't happen. The only way this could happen is when someone starts manufacturing the Ercoupe Kitplane and certificates it explicitly up to 1320 pounds gross weight when flown in the LSA category. Then of course there would be the normal category that allows my kit to fly up to 1600 lbs.
