I'm an "owners manual" type of guy too, but when it comes to lubricants, I
think the technology has somewhat changed in 60 years. So if I had nothing to
do one day and wanted to spend some time on which oil to use, I might go over
to Continental or Rolls Royce and see what they're now recommending for the
little engines.

Does your engine care or do you really care which oil you run with?

  Not a petroleum engineer.

But look in your owner's manual for your Coupe....it probably advises 80wt
oil. Not 100wt. However, until recently the 80wt oils had no anti-corrosion
additives, so I used a multi-weight oil with the additives.

But now Shell makes an 80wt oil with its package of anti-corrosion additives.
I've switched to this. It's the correct weight oil and should help the engine
resist corrosion better than an untreated oil. Plus I use CamGuard too. Why
try to save a few bucks with your engine oil?
