There's nothing wrong with the K&W charger per se. It's crude, but it works.

The problem is that you can't use it *alone* to charge batteries that are easily damaged by overcharging. That includes AGMs and gels, as well as lithiums. You have to add a BMS of some kind to stop the charger from overcharging.
