When swapping my ICE engine, after 1 hour I was not even ready to take off the Serpentine belt, let alone to hoist the engine out of the engine bay... In my EV truck it is also more involved, since the motor lies in a frame that goes around the motor and is bolted down under the front battery box. So I am afraid that I will have to pull the 4 front batteries, lift the box and then I can access the motor mounting. But why would I want to remove the motor? Only the brushes might need work after a couple years (replace and blow out dust) so why worry about removing the motor anyway?

My first EV built in 1975 was done this way. The vehicle was hoisted up and a dolly was roll under the vehicle. To remove the battery pack was unplug and eight bolts were move. The battery boxes was then drop straight down. Also the motor and transmission can be drop straight down by removing the bolts on the cross members and unplugging the power and control cables. The last time I done this was on 4 Sept 2009, I time my self on how long it would take to remove the motor and transmission and replace them with a spare set. It only took me about 60 minutes to remove and about the same of amount of time to install the spare units. I challenge my ICE mechanic to see if he can do a engine and transmission exchange in the same amount of time.
