And, we still have that absurdly large "Hummer" tax credit for buying a
monster SUV as a passenger car. This is what created the market for
Humvees as passenger cars.
For 2013, the IRS Section 179 deduction for such vehicles was $11,160
for vehicles under 6000 lbs, or $25,000 for vehicles over 6000 lbs, and
more for even heavier vehicles. With some creative accounting, you can
deduct the *entire purchase price* of such a vehicle on your taxes.
