Yes. And self-torture exists. It is called masochism. Is God a masochist? That would explain some things, but I am not sure "It" can qualify for that, as God, according to many religious theories, has no nameable attribute.

Then he would have no attributes at all. Do they not attribute existence to their God? "Creator" "Immortality"...
