On the subject of atheists and whether they have a definite concept of god, etc etc --- well, atheists are (in my experience) dogmatic that they are sure there is nothing to the universe(s) except something like matter, energy, space and time (or a quantum field, vectors in Hilbert space, or whatever). That is, they - or at least the more vocal ones - appear to be convinced that there can't be anything beyond a materialist conception of reality.
Or at least that's how they tend to come across. As though they've made their minds up. "There's no god - get over it and enjoy your life" or words to that effect. This is of course very similar to a religious viewpoint; it certainly doesn't adhere to the scientific method of theories being provisional.
