It's not just humans, the light sensitive cells of ALL vertebrate animals are on the wrong side. The worst human designer on the planet wouldn't do anything that dumb, and certainly would not keep making the exact same mistake again and again many millions of times. If God exists He is a imbecile.

There are other possibilities:

- God created the invertebrates, and the vertebrates were created by something or someone else.

- God created the invertebrates, but was distracted when creating the vertebrates. perhaps inebriated by some divine perfumes.

- God created all animals, and put the eyes nerves on the "wrong" side for a good reason, which our own stupidity prevents the finding, currently. After all our seeing is rather efficacious.

- God is not a person, so that "imbecile" does not apply to it.

Also, it is not clear why you say that God made the mistake many millions of times. He might have done it only one time, and then duplicated it. If your kids make 5 spelling mistakes in a text, and then makes 10 photo-copies of that text, would you say that he made 50 spelling mistakes?

But with computationalism, there might be a sense to say that God was ... hmm, imbecile is too strong and provocative, let us say innocent.

God created the number 0, and its successors, and He said ... OK.
Then he told the numbers: add. And He said ... OK.
Then he told the numbers: multiply, and He said ... Oops!

The reason is, if I need to say again, that logic + numbers + add + multiply leads to *all* computations: all those which stop and all those which do not stop.
