just ideas in consciousness.

Also, self-reference doesn't "happen". Self-reference eternally is. All the 
consciousness in the world are self-reference. Self-reference is no-thing 
(in the sense that it is not a thing, it is unformalizable) and every-thing 
(all the consciousness in the world) both at the same time. I'm not sure if 
you grasp this subtlety.
