Some do, but are rare. The problem is the implicit confusion between physics and metaphysics/theology make by the weak-materialist (the belief in some irreducible matter). In physics that is not important, like the switch to instrumentalism often made illustrate, but in metaphysics/theology, that distinction is crucial.
