I agree. So if we want an example of field without particles, we can use 
classical mechanics. But that is plausibly not present in the physical reality. 
Fleds and particles are two aspect of a deeper reality that we have not yet 
found empirically, but which is arithmetic (or Turing equivalent) if we assume 
digital mechanism.
