The way to get people to chill out is NOT to threaten them with horrible torture for an infinite number of years if they ever step one nanometer out of line; and the holy rollers don't even make it clear if they're talking about an Aleph-nought or an Aleph-one infinity of years. So you don't care if religion is true or not, you only want to know if it makes people happy or not. OK, I would say the answer is a big NO, at least with regard to Christianity.
