The only correction to your assessment, Chuck, is that, since Larry Svaton
got one of the first Mk8's in '96, I would assume they started a year
earlier than you indicated. Larry was (not "is) also the owner of the Mk6.
I heard rumors there were more than one but, can neither quantity nor
substantiate. It looked a lot like, and used some of the parts from, the
Mk5, especially the front suspension (including the brakes, yikes). The
rear was, I believe, a sprung solid axle.
Appreciate the correction/enlightenment. I believe you are correct because
there was some issue with the early Mk5's when the new (and
"unGrandfathered) roll bar rule emerged.

I am not a KBS historian....that being said.
The KBS MK 5 went into production approximately 1989 and it's
performance with it's 4 link rear suspension was a virtual revolution in
the handling of F440 cars. The MK 5 was followed by the MK 7 in
approximately 1992 which had revised rear suspension geometry. The MK 6
was a DSR car produced in 1993, of which I believe only one was
produced. The MK 8 had revised front and rear suspension geometries and
it was further updated to MK 8.5 status I believe it began production
about 1997. The body work from MK 5's & MK 7's is interchangeable. The
bodywork for the MK 8 & 8.5 gives a similar appearance to the MK 5/7,
however the MK 8 bodywork will not fit the earlier editions.
There are also earlier KBS editions, I have seen MK 3's and MK 4's and
while I have never seen them I suspect there were MK 1 & 2 also.

Can someone set me straight on the KBS MK thing. I see reference to MK7
and
MK8 without any reference to the year it was manufactured. Are there MK
6's and MK 9's ?
Were the MK 7's and 8's manufactured over several years ?
and if so is one MK 7 different from the next ?
Richard
