I've been following your tale of mechanical woe and have a few ideas.
Did you pressure check the crankcase last time it died?  If not and it has
an air leak you will continue to kill parts till they're all gone or you
go crazy

Odd thing is, the guy I bought the car from rebuilt the engine for just this reason, and he said he had the crank etc. professionally done. I suppose it is not impossible, but dang . . .

in it, it's much happier with 260-270 range at our typical air densities.

Will correct this.

Does the oil pump gear drive still have oil in it? If not I would suspect
a crank seal on that end.

I'm going to have to look into that stuff further Dave. I've got things almost all apart now, so I guess it is no big deal to go the whole route.
