John,
The previous owners "professional" rebuild really doesn't mean
much. I have "professional" highly experienced mechanics
working in my shop and they will still on occasion, do the
stupidest damn things you could imagine. Not very often because they know
it may cause me to go temporally insane and kill them!
Point being....everybody screws up sometimes and it
may pay to recheck and rule out some of the basics.
A properly setup Kaw is a pretty reliable autocross
engine. Keep it cool and jetted correctly and they
should last at least 2-3 seasons of autocross between
rebuilds.
