If you calculated it that way in business you'd be out of business in a
short while. You have to amortize it all over a period of time.

If you simply drive the car on the trailer after the race and then take
it to the next race with no maintenance and only do a couple of races a
year, then you could possibly do it for that. Here are a list of things
that will always require money to be spent at some point.

*       Fluids, cleaners, tools
*       Brakes, fluid and cleaner
*       Oil
*       Plugs
*       Tire wear/replacement
*       Bearing wear
*       Body and paint wear
*       Clutch rebuilds and wear
*       Belt replacements and wear
*       Belts every 2 years
*       Safety gear wear
* Helmet replacement to latest SA date
*       Food/beer/lodging
* Chassis repairs, tie rod ends
*       Radio repairs, batteries, scanners
* Crash and material failure repairs
* Trailer repairs, tires, inspections, insurance
*       Entry and practice fees.

$1,000/weekend over the long haul is a reasonable estimate.

They did a good job with the "Bang for the buck" message . . . until JB
tried to actually put some numbers to it! He mentioned several costs -
tires, entry fees, then estimated "$2k per race". Ain't it more like $1k
per weekend? . . . and even less. I'm often way under that for two races
at a DN weekend. But then again, I'm cheap.
