Chris-you are not making a real comparison. Having done both (which I don't
believe you have at a real level) you can't beat the intensity of solo. I
enjoy the time of club racing, but for ultimate rush, solo is still better.
If tires last you a season, you are going too slow.

You have to look at what you're getting for that money...
  You can't compare
driving in a parking lot to road america, and how much track time do you get
at an autocross? Tires, unless you're a top national guy, a set will more
than likely last a season, at least....

  Joe and list,
I personally autocross a 88 Red
Devil with Kawasaki 440 power. The cost
of converting my car to rotax is
around $2000. That alone is not
stopping me from road racing. The cost of road
racing is stopping me
from doing it. Here is what I see......$250 entry fee,
$200 worth of
tires used (approx), $100 in gasoline to get to the road race,
$150
motel bill, $75 in meals, etc. Basically a $1000 weekend, if I dont
break
the car or its motor. Very expensive stuff. I can do a local
autocross for
under $100 (me and my wife , both) using the same expense
areas, just smaller
amounts. Road Racing is expensive, its the nature of
the beast. If I was a
road racer, I would want to do 8 to 10 races a
year. That amounts to $8000 to
$10000 a year!!!!!! That is a rich mans
game, sorry.

If I had a Kawi on a Road Race
set-up and I could make such adjustments
to
keep-up with the Rotax and add to
the F500 numbers, I WOULD MAKE THEM
AND GO
ROAD RACING!

. . thus immediately
challenging the SCCA rules that restrict it ON
THE
KAWI.

. . if it allows
the Kawi's to be competitive and have fun, but not
beat
the Rotax's, then
where's the harm and why would the SCCA or F500
competitors have reason to
take any action other than rewriting the GCR
to
allow it?

Furthermore, being
a Rotax Road Racer, if a fellow competitor showed up
with
a tweaked Kawi and
gave a good run/race, I'd be the first to support
this
driver and his right
to race with the local and national SCCA. I know
down
here in TX, if the
fellow competitors spoke to the steward and said we
support our Kawi driver
and his set-up, then that would be that.

. . I know the argument against such
an action would be the
"possibility"
of the "super-Kawi".

But I think that's
a different thing than being suggested here. So, the

question is . . .would
this REALLY get many Kawi RR cars onto the
tracks?

Then we all can run at the same weight and it might bring some
