I think you are missing the point. You can road race on a budget. I have,
and will, do it. Yes the entry fees are more for road racing, but you can
cut cost by: A. camping at the track - deduct the $150 per weekend for hotel
fees. B. Use the same set of tires all season or two - they never wear out,
just get hard. C. Run regionals only - they never check the fuel - buy ten
gallons at the local gas station before you enter the track, you should have
enough for a double race weekend. D. Bring food with you to the track from
home - potato salad and hot dogs taste real good after a hot day at the race
track. E. Just go to several double regional race weekends. You get the
number of races under your belt in two weekends to keep your regional
license.
