(also posted on the eformulacars forum)

I have decided to make a major committment (for me) to the future of F500.
While I think that F500 is easily the best bang for the $$$, I also think we
need some changes or the class will not survive.

I have committed my $$$ and resources to building a current rule F500 with a
600cc bike engine. I am going to use my 2nd Rakavon chassis & install a
Suzuki GSXR 600cc bike engine. Over the weekend I purchased a BRAND NEW
600cc GSXR engine for a bit over $2000 delivered to my shop. The engine
includes EVERYTHING needed to run except for the headers. These engines are
available commercially and I made my decision based on the cost to purchase
a complete Rotax drive train for another F500. For me to do a complete Rotax
powertrain it would cost me over $4000 so I decided to bite the bullet &
quit the BS & do it.

Of course I have looked at this for a long time & I would not have made this
decision if I did not think it was a LOWER COST viable solution for the
powertrain. I also believe that I have a very low cost solution to any
potential oiling problems with these engines.

This is an experiment on my part & I do not expect all to think it is a good
idea. However I do think it is important that an effort be made to test the
feasibility of the concept.

I will be posting regular updates with pictures etc, both here & on my
website so keep in tune to see what is happening.

As soon as the car is ready to run, in about 2 months, we will do a test
session at a Michigan race track & I invite any & all competitors that are
interested to attend.
